JOBS, JOBS, & MORE JOBS!!

Washington is not the answer for producing prosperity in Americabut they certainly can prevent it! New businesses and jobs are not created by Washington, they are generated by hard-working Americans.

Ronald Reagan articulated the winning formula for spurring economic growth that included lower taxes across-the-board, less government, reduced government spending, and controlling inflation. It caused our economy to nearly double in the 80’s. Our country experienced the longest period of sustained growth during peacetime in its history. It worked before—it will work again.

These free market principles along with the private sector drive economic growth, thereby improving the quality of life for our citizens. Government bureaucracy, complicated regulations and excessive taxation hinder small business growth. I support tax incentives for small businesses and the removal of these federal red tape barriers so small businesses can prosper and promote growth. It's time to create real jobs for Indiana’s 8th District, and stop punishing American productivity.

Reducing the load of higher taxes placed on you and your family will be one of my top priorities in Congress. Our economy works best when people have more of their income to spend, and businesses have capital funds to invest so they can create new jobs. Raising taxes will only stifle any growth and weaken our economy even more, consequently putting more people out of work.

FAIRTAX

The way to get our great country back on track is not by raising taxes or hiring more IRS agents, the solution is to lower taxes! We need to replace our current tax code with the FairTax Act (H.R. 25) and lower taxes. We need to abolish the current complicated tax structure created in 1913 and convert it to one that is simplified, transparent and voluntary.

America's economic prosperity under this new tax structure would improve dramatically because this straightforward tax structure wouldn’t penalize success, nor limit America's potential for prosperity. Being fairer, simpler and easier to understand, it would foster economic growth and create jobs.

As your next Congressman, I will sponsor the FairTax legislation (H.R. 25) in order to ease the tax burden on all Americans.

BAILOUTS & FISCAL DISCIPLINE

As your Congressman, I will work tirelessly to make sure Congress doesn’t pass any more bailouts—especially to the BIG banks and BIG corporations that are called “too big to fail.”

Deficit spending must end. We can’t spend our way out of debt. Fiscal responsibility — sincere fiscal discipline — means not only cutting taxes but also reducing spending.

Either the government will grow or the economy will, but it can't be both ways. Our economy is drowning in endless debt while our children and grandchildren are expected to pay, and pay, and pay for BIG government’s runaway spending spree. Future generations of Americans will be burdened with escalating debt unless we send leaders to Washington that will take a stand and do what is right. I will be that leader.

You deserve to know how and why Congress spends your money, and I will continue to work for limited government that behaves in a fiscally responsible way with your hard-earned tax dollars.

Congress has ignored sound fiscal responsibility and principles by inserting billions of dollars worth of corrupt, outrageous and wasteful pork barrel spending that I will strongly oppose. Congress has a duty to responsibly manage taxpayers’ money just like Indiana’s working families and successful businesses do.

In Washington lawmakers routinely vote on bills without knowing what they are passing. I am committed to reading all the bills before I vote on them, and so should all members of Congress.

PRO-LIFE     Indiana Right to Life A+ Rating

I am strongly pro life. I support and will defend life from conception to natural end. I support the sanctity of life and family, believing that every innocent life must be protected. I also believe that marriage is the union of one man with one woman.

securing our borders

America is a welcoming nation, and legal immigration has been the backbone of this country’s success since its beginning. But we must secure our borders and enforce existing immigration laws, as illegal immigration harms American workers and taxpayers, as well as our national security.

I will work to insure that illegal aliens do not receive social security benefits, Medicaid benefits, food stamps, drivers’ licenses, or other benefits. I am opposed to “blanket” amnesty and any so-called "pathway to citizenship" for individuals who enter this country illegally. This will encourage all illegals who will pledge allegiance to this country to work toward their citizenship.

We go overseas to fight terrorism yet keep our borders unlocked so anyone can walk right through our wide open front door. This makes no sense.

Border security must be a top National Defense priority. Our government has a constitutional obligation to protect its citizens, and that certainly includes right here at home. As your Congressman, I will stand strong to keep our country’s borders safe from terrorists.

Strong NATIONAL DefenSe

I am fully dedicated and will proudly support our men and women in uniform around the world and provide the best tools, training, technology and care they need and deserve to finish the good work that they have been asked to do, until they return home—victoriously.

The 911 terrorist attacks have changed our nation forever, and I believe America must remain on guard and be well-equipped and well-trained to defend itself against a wide variety of threats.

It is now more important than ever that we keep our military strong and protect our homeland by continuing our efforts against terrorism while we are fighting for our freedom around the world.

VeterAns

America’s Veterans have risked life and limb for the very freedoms we enjoy. Through their sacrifices, America has triumphed and remained a free nation.

I firmly believe that our Veterans deserve our utmost gratitude and support for stepping up and putting their lives on the line when America's security necessitated it.

I will work to ensure that the promises our government made to veterans are fulfilled, including disability compensation, helping veterans gain employment, furthering education, health care, pensions and GI Bill benefits.

REPEAL OBAMA CARE

We need to bring down the cost of medical services in America without harming the best medical system in the world.

In Congress I will support the repeal for the Government rationed medical health care bill. Government control will further limit our personal choices, reduce competition, and increase our overall costs. This is the surest way to spoil the most admired health care in the world.

I will support common-sense reform that empowers the people and provides health care that is based on a free and competitive market and guarantees individuals adequate and accessible health care choices.

I recognize the frustrations many Hoosiers have with the cost of health care. As a former small business owner, I am particularly aware of the problems our nation faces regarding health care and am truly sensitive to the struggles hard-working Americans face when trying to gain access to adequate and affordable health care.

But medical decisions should be made in a doctor’s office, not in Washington. With your help, we can repeal this government takeover of health care and pass reform that promotes competition and patient choice to expand access to affordable health insurance and contain health care costs.

This is a critical issue that faces every single American family and we must get it right. We can and must do better than socialized medicine.

FOR THE PEOPLE of Indiana’s 8th DISTRICT

I believe in a need for ethic reform and fiscal reform. I will stand firm in demanding a more open and transparent government in Washington, D.C.

As your Congressman I will support common sense values which are the foundation of our great state.  With my experience in both business and government, I will work to challenge the way Washington insiders conduct the country’s business.

I will serve the people and be our District’s voice for values and beliefs in Washington. I will work hard to eliminate the escalating income tax that only leads to fewer jobs, less income, and lessened value creation.

As your Congressman, I will be there to represent your interests, not big spending special interests.  I will push for common sense reforms in Congress that will reduce the influence of lobbyists and special interests.

I will fight to ensure that any issue that would be best dealt with in Indiana, stays in Indiana.

DEFEND OUR 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHTS

As your Congressman, I will firmly support the 2nd Amendment and strongly believe that American citizens have the right to keep and bear arms as a fundamental Constitutional liberty.

I pledge to always protect and defend the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as an individual right, free from law or statute designed to diminish that right in any way. Every American has the personal right to own and safely use firearms in a responsible manner.

We must protect and preserve our right to bear arms as granted in the Constitution. I will not support any legislation that infringes upon this right.

NO TO “CAP & TRADE”

Washington's answer to domestic energy development is to tax energy providers with Cap and Trade - or Cap & Tax. As your Congressman, I will reject global taxation schemes like national cap-and-trade or the "carbon tax" because of the higher costs that Indiana families and businesses would incur.

Instead of Cap and Trade, Congress should endorse a broad energy policy that provides incentives to industries for developing all of our energy resources, including both the traditional sources and our renewable resources. Furthermore, instead of punishing companies, we should encourage the development of more efficient ways in producing, transporting and storing energy.

I endorse the development of alternative and renewable energy but believe the free market should dictate how and when these sources are brought to market, not the heavy hand of big government.

Energy Independence

Coal MUST be a part of our energy independence policy. It is economical, it’s readily available here at home (we don’t have to go outside the United States to get it) and it is cheap to convert to electricity. Furthermore it is vital to many of our citizens in Indiana’s 8th District in order to keep their electricity costs down.

I support opening up our vast domestic energy resources to exploration so we can minimize your pain at the gas pump and lead our nation to real energy independence.

I will join the fight to encourage conservation, offer incentives to increase nuclear, solar, wind and other clean renewable energy sources, and increase America’s domestic production of oil and natural gas by providing incentives for the building of more domestic refineries and for investing in domestic drilling.

I will NOT support bills that sacrifice our jobs and independence in Indiana through damaging trade agreements with foreign countries while also voting to pass regulations that force local manufacturers out of the United States.

LIBERTY FOR ALL  &
No to “Card Check
BILL”

The Employee Free Choice Act of 2009 (H.R. 1409), better known as the Card Check bill, is a proposed law that would change how unions are allowed to organize workers in the United States.

I am opposed to giving control of the workplace to government bureaucrats. The secret ballot - an opportunity to express one’s opinion without the fear of cajoling, coercion, intimidation or retribution, must be protected.

There is not a single aspect of American economic life that special interests groups and BIG government do not want to control. Government’s job however is to protect us, not to control us.

As your Congressman, I will firmly support our basic rights and liberties guaranteed under our Constitution.

If we are to remain free, we must prevent the erosion of our basic rights and Constitutional liberties. Our government was founded on the Biblical principles of liberty and opportunities to prosper for all Americans. Washington Bureaucrats have lost sight of those principles.

EMPOWER EDUCATION

Being a son, son-in-law and husband of teachers, I understand that providing world-class education for our young people is of vital importance for America’s future.

Federal education policy is often too far removed from the local district, teachers and parents who are more qualified to make knowledgeable decisions.

Washington’s mandated programs have a “one-size-fits-all” approach and often do not meet the needs of the local community.

We need to encourage many avenues of education such as public, private, charter, vocational, vouchers and home schooling so we can provide the best education according to the needs of the individual child.

Our children deserve the opportunity to go to the school that best suits their needs. I will work to ensure that these choices are available, so our children can live as free and productive citizens.
